Who we are. Ironbooks does the books for contractors across the US and Canada and we're hiring a Senior Bookkeeper who can look at a finished P&L and Balance Sheet and say "hold on, something's off here" before the client ever sees it. Not someone who checks boxes. Someone who checks the whole picture.

Our search. We're hiring an experienced, detail-obsessed Senior Bookkeeper to manage day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online for a portfolio of painting contractor clients. This role is remote, full-time, and open to candidates anywhere in the world. You'll do real client work from day one including categorizing transactions, reconciling accounts, closing the books each month, and talking directly with clients in plain, friendly English. You'll also be expected to use AI tools to work faster and smarter, not to avoid them.

The Details

- Categorize transactions and keep client books current in QuickBooks Online
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts every month
- Run the monthly close for a portfolio of 50+ clients on schedule, every month
- Check AR/AP aging, verify owner draws, and catch anomalies before the client does
- Flag anything unusual,  odd expenses, missing deposits, a possible personal charge 
- Talk to clients directly: answer questions, explain numbers in plain English,
- Support new client onboarding: chart of accounts setup, bank and credit card connections, historical cleanup
- Use AI tools to speed up categorization, client communication, and documentation
- Help build and improve our SOPs so the process stays consistent as we grow

The Non-Negotiables
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- 5+ years of bookkeeping experience.
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certified.
- Proven 50+ client months. High volume, full month-end close, tight deadlines.  
- Client-facing experience. You're comfortable in front of clients
