Mission of the Role

As the inaugural back-end engineer, your primary objective is to develop web functionalities that provide tangible value to our clients. Your role will be pivotal in establishing the technological groundwork, processes, and standards for our platform. Your contributions will profoundly shape our culture, practices, and the future composition of our team. You'll have an unparalleled opportunity to collaborate closely with the founders and the initial team, playing a key role in shaping the product from inception. Reporting directly to the CTO, this position offers a unique blend of challenges and opportunities, providing extensive exposure and learning prospects. You'll be part of a project with significant social and environmental impacts across Mexico and Latin America.

Outcomes of the Role

• Develop web-based experiments and assist in defining the MVP.
• Participate in in-depth customer interviews and offer insights into our technological and product strategies.
• Collaborate closely with the product team to create and execute non-scalable experiments.
• Assess the impact of tests and experiments to ensure immediate value creation for our clients.
• Contribute to defining and designing the MVP using real customer data gathered from interactions.
• Construct scalable, technology-native solutions.
• Lead the front-end application's quality to create a top-tier user experience at every stage of product development.
• Manage a backlog of technical debt reduction and internal efficiency enhancements.
• Provide leadership and guidance on frontend technology and architecture decisions in collaboration with other engineers.
• Establish reusable architecture for our web client using best-in-class design patterns to facilitate iterative, autonomous development, and future scalability.
• Advise the leadership team on critical technical considerations regarding the future of our frontend technology.
• Set and enhance internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices in a high-scale web environment.
• Maintain high-security standards for our SaaS Online Application.
• Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and continuous integration to uphold code quality standards.

MUST HAVES

• Deep understanding of core web and browser concepts (e.g., browser page parsing and construction).
• Proficiency in semantic HTML, CSS, and fundamental JavaScript concepts.
• Expertise in integrating and constructing RESTful APIs.
• High energy and passion for product development.
• Effective communication with various stakeholders, internally and externally.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, coupled with adaptability, proactivity, and a sense of ownership.
• Customer-centric mindset, driven by a dedication to understanding and serving customer needs.

NICE TO HAVES

• Familiarity with microservices architecture and micro frontends architecture.
• Experience with React and mobile development.
• Self-directed learning ability.
• Experience with early-stage (0 to 1) startups is highly desirable.
